Course Preparation

Get ready for fun!

Our knowledgeable instructors will provide personalized guidance throughout your journey, ensuring every step is safe and enjoyable. However, you must come prepared so we can ensure that you have the best experience possible.

As long as you bring a positive attitude and a willingness to learn, we can be confident that you'll have a fun time on the water with us. 

Intro Kayak Courses

This includes: Intro to Sea Kayaking, Level One Sea Kayaking

What to Bring:

  • Wide-brimmed sun hat
  • Sunglasses and glasses float
  • Sunscreen and lip balm (waterproof)
  • Proper water clothing, bathing suit, swim shorts, quick dry top, etc. (whatever you feel most comfortable wearing)
  • Water shoes (not required)
  • Lots of water and a full lunch
  • A complete change of clothes and towel

 

Advanced Kayak Courses

This includes: Level Two Sea Kayaking and Level One Instructor

Advanced Kayak Courses have other prerequisites. Please ensure that you've met those requirements. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to give us a call or send us an email.

 

What to bring:

  • A full touring kayak with two bulkheads
  • All safety gear, as required by Transport Canada
  • A skirt appropriate for your touring kayak and a paddle float
  • Drysuit or other sufficient coldwater immersion protection
  • A personal towing system
  • Meals - Prepare for four days worth of meals - We'll be car camping for one day but kayak camping for the rest of the course.
  • Charts or Topo Map of paddling location
  • Compass and Navigation Aids
  • Sleeping bags, camping gear*
  • Personal on-water garments
  • Personal comfort items like extra snacks, sunscreen etc.

 

*Each course can have different requirements for packing, refer to the specific course you're taking for more details. 

 

Canoe Courses

What to bring (Weather Dependent)

  • Wide-Brimmed Hat
  • Sunglasses (eyeglass floats are recommended)
  • Sunscreen and lip balm (waterproof)
  • Bathing suit and towel
  • Clothing you feel comfortable in - T-shirt, light long-sleeve shirt, shorts, dry pants, etc.
  • Water shoes or sandals
  • Water Bottle (we stock pop & water)
  • An attitude for having fun!

 

SUP Courses

What to Bring

  • Wide-brimmed sun hat
  • Sunglasses and Eye Glass Floats
  • Sunscreen & lip balm (waterproof)
  • Proper Water Clothing: Bathing suit, T-shirt, light long-sleeve shirt, shorts, etc. (whatever you feel most comfortable in)
  • Change of Clothes and Towel
  • Water shoes or Sandals (not required)
  • Water 

 

Note: Our lake warms very quickly, so wetsuits and dry suits are generally unnecessary. If you prefer to wear one, you're encouraged to bring your own, or Farmer John wetsuits are available for rent.

 

Cancellation Policy

Courses are non-refundable; however, a credit is kept on file in the instance of cancellation. This credit can be used towards a future course or purchase. 

Frontenac Outfitters reserves the right to cancel or reschedule courses due to extreme weather or lack of participation.
